During my tenure as a professional music educator I tried to come up with ways to recruit more students into the band program. I began to utilize my interest in video and audio engineering to achieve this goal.
Further on in my career I began to collaborate with colleagues in creating educationally based films to enhance the school learning experience.
Simultaneously I created instructional video content for the school district.
Through my continued collaborations my videos began to win accolades on the state, national and international levels.
In 2010 I completed a second Master’s degree in Educational Media Design and Technology. I graduated with the honor of being the class “Advanced Achiever” and was offered a position at the University.
I further went on to get a New York State professional certification as a Technology Integration Specialist.
In 2014 I retired from teaching and have been putting my creative energies into David Laks Video, a full service video and sound production studio in Saugerties, NY.
